This is a photo of the scafolding going up to the ceiling. It gives me the heebie jeebies just looking at that open stairway going all the way up there. They are trying to save some more of the mosaics.
Islamic law forbids the display of images, so in 1453 all of the mosaics were either plastered over or chipped out. Now that it is a museum, they are trying to restore some of them.
